Victorian Government grants available in the hospitality sector

In recognition of the restrictions placed on Victorian businesses, there are various business support package grants that the Victorian Government have released.  While we have previously provided information on the Victorian Business Support Fund – Expansion grant, there are other grants that are available through Business Victoria that some of our clients in the hospitality sector may also be eligible to apply for.

Click here to access the Business Victoria website outlining the relevant grants available.

The grants available include:

  • The Business Support Fund – Expansion grant:
As per our previous news release, eligible businesses are now eligible to apply for this grant which consists of a grant of $10,000 for businesses located in Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, and $5,000 for all other businesses located in Victoria.  Applications remain open until 14 September 2020.
  • The CBD Small Hospitality Grant Stream:
The grant is available to eligible businesses located in Melbourne CBD, Southbank and Docklands which conduct a hospitality-related business which has a seating capacity of 11 or more seats.  The grant consists of $5,000 for businesses with seating capacities of between 11 – 100 seats, or $15,000 for businesses with 101+ seats.  Applications for this grant are now open.
  • The Hospitality Business Grant Program:
The grant is available to eligible businesses who have annual payrolls of between $3M and $10M (i.e. who do not qualify for the Business Support Fund – Expansion grant or the CBD Small Hospitality Grant stream), who operate a hospitality-related business, and who have been impacted by Stage 3 and Stage 4 lockdowns.  Eligible businesses are eligible for a grant of $25,000 plus additional grants if they have multiple business premises and/or operate from the Melbourne CBD.
  • The Regional Tourism Accommodation Support Program:
The program is available to businesses that provide accommodation in regional areas of Victoria that have forced to cancel books as a result of lockdown restrictions.  Accommodation providers can claim up to $225 per night capped to $1,125 per bookable offering that has had to be cancelled.  The program is now open and closes on 19 August 2020.
